Back to the fault

UCSC seismology researcher Patrick Fulton, holding sensors retrieved from the bottom of the sea. Photo by me.

In my first weeks in Santa Cruz I went to a Lifelong Learning lecture in a Scotts Valley living room. A UCSC geology professor told the story of a project to drill through the fault that caused the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami.

That one lecture has now turned into a series of blog posts for Out of the Fog, with more to come on GeoSpace.

For my most recent post, I conducted a Q&A and took my own photos – two skills I learned in my Science Communication courses this year – which are rapidly drawing to a close.
